Sylvia Plath was an American poet, novelist, and short-story writer. Born in 1932, she began writing at a young age and published her first poem at the age of eight. She went on to attend Smith College and later Cambridge University, where she met and married the poet Ted Hughes. Plath's work often delved into themes of depression, loneliness, and the struggles of womanhood. She is best known for her semi-autobiographical novel "The Bell Jar" and her poetry collection "Ariel." Tragically, Plath took her own life in 1963, but her work continues to be celebrated and studied to this day.
