Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of the United States, serving from 1829 to 1837. He was born in 1767 in the Waxhaws region of the Carolinas and grew up in poverty. He became a lawyer and served in both houses of Congress, as well as serving as a judge. He was known for his military career, including his victory in the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812, which made him a national hero. He was also known for his controversial Indian Removal Act, which resulted in the forced relocation of thousands of Native Americans. He also vetoed the National Bank, which led to economic crisis. He was also known as the "people's president" for his populist policies.
