Frederick Douglass was a prominent abolitionist, author, and orator during the 19th century. Born into slavery, he escaped to freedom and became a leading voice in the fight to end slavery in the United States. Douglass wrote several books, including his autobiography "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass," which detailed his experiences as a slave and his journey to freedom. His speeches and writings were influential in the abolitionist movement and he was a friend and advisor to President Abraham Lincoln.
