James Madison was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and the fourth President of the country. He is known for his instrumental role in drafting the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. He also served as the Secretary of State under President Thomas Jefferson. Madison's presidency was marked by the War of 1812 and the establishment of the second national bank. He died on June 28, 1836, and is buried at Montpelier, his Virginia plantation.
