Zachary Taylor, also known as "Old Rough and Ready," was the twelfth President of the United States, serving from 1849 until his death in 1850. Taylor was a career military officer, serving in the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, and the Mexican-American War. He was known for his bravery and leadership on the battlefield, and was a popular hero among the American people. Despite having no prior political experience, he was elected President on a platform of preserving the Union and opposing the expansion of slavery. However, his presidency was cut short by his untimely death from stomach complications.
