Robert G. Ingersoll was an American lawyer, political leader, and orator during the Golden Age of Free Thought, which saw a resurgence of interest in freethought, civil liberties, and science. He was known as the "Great Agnostic" and was famous for his speeches and writings promoting reason, secularism, and freedom of thought. He was also a vocal advocate for the rights of women and African Americans. Ingersoll passed away in 1899, but his legacy continues to inspire freethinkers and humanists to this day.
