Isaac Newton was an English mathematician, physicist, and astronomer who is widely recognised as one of the most influential scientists of all time. He was born in 1642 in Lincolnshire, England, and is best known for his laws of motion and universal gravitation. He is also credited with developing calculus and making important contributions to the study of light and color. Newton's work laid the foundation for modern physics, and his Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica is considered one of the most important scientific works ever written. He died in 1727.
