James Earl Carter Jr, better known as Jimmy Carter, was the 39th President of the United States, serving from 1977 to 1981. Prior to his presidency, Carter served as the Governor of Georgia and was a naval officer. During his presidency, Carter focused on energy independence, environmental conservation and human rights. He was also instrumental in brokering the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt. After his presidency, Carter continued to be active in public service and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his humanitarian efforts.
