Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who gained international fame posthumously through her diary, where she documented her experiences during the Holocaust. Born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1929, she and her family moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands to escape persecution by the Nazis. In 1942, they went into hiding in an attic for two years until they were betrayed and sent to concentration camps. Anne died at the Bergen-Belsen camp in 1945 at the age of 15. Her diary was discovered after the war and published as "The Diary of Anne Frank" and has since been translated into over 60 languages and become a widely read testimony of the Holocaust.
