Alfred Tennyson was an English poet, often referred to as the "Poet Laureate of England" during his lifetime. He was born in 1809 and published his first collection of poetry, "Poems by Two Brothers," with his brother Charles in 1827. He went on to publish several more collections of poetry, including "In Memoriam A.H.H.", "The Charge of the Light Brigade," and "Idylls of the King." Tennyson's poetry was known for its musicality, strong imagery, and exploration of themes such as love, nature, and death. He was appointed as the Poet Laureate in 1850, and held the position until his death in 1892.
