Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher, widely considered as one of the most important figures in modern philosophy. He was born in 1724 in Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia) and lived most of his life there. He is best known for his work in epistemology, ethics, and aesthetics. His most famous work is Critique of Pure Reason, in which he argues that knowledge can only come from the senses. He also wrote Critique of Practical Reason and Critique of Judgment, which dealt with ethics and aesthetics respectively. He died in 1804.
