Stephen Hawking was a British theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who made groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of the universe. He was known for his work on black holes and the Big Bang theory. He was diagnosed with a rare form of motor neuron disease at 21 and given two years to live, but he went on to live for over 50 years. He wrote several popular science books, including the best-seller "A Brief History of Time." He was also a vocal advocate for people with disabilities and a proponent of scientific literacy. He died in 2018 at the age of 76.
