Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd President of the United States, serving from 1889 to 1893. He was a member of the Republican Party and a grandson of the 9th President, William Henry Harrison. During his presidency, he signed the Sherman Antitrust Act, which aimed to break up monopolies, and oversaw the admission of six new states to the Union. He also oversaw the passage of the McKinley Tariff, which raised tariffs on imported goods. Harrison lost his re-election bid to Democrat Grover Cleveland in 1892. He died in 1901.
